Greece

Greece needs no introduction as a yachting destination. It’s a truly fantastic cruising ground for yacht charters. The waters of this country have been welcoming seamen and travellers beyond the memory of man.

There’s an infinite number of islands in Greece to explore while chartering a yacht. From the bird’s eye view islands look as if someone has dropped a handful of jewels into the sea, and later each gem became a marvellous land with unique landscapes.

Each group of the islands is incomparable. East Med Yachting has its particular focus on crewed yacht charters in the Ionian Islands, which are located closer to Montenegro and Croatia. If you wish to combine these yachting destinations in one exciting and unforgettable itinerary, we’ll be glad to prepare for you this wonderful yacht charter journey.

Here in the Ionians, sail at your own rhythm between Greek islands. You’ll encounter the romance of beauty unspoilt with the time, figured and rocky coastline, sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise water. Friendly and welcoming local people, exciting historical sites, joyful festivals, and of course, the feast of tableful with famous Greek gastronomic delights.

Located at the crossroads of three continents, along the west coast of Greece and the south part of Peloponnese, there are a total of 12 Ionian islands, tiny and big, and each with its own history, unique exterior looks, historical and cultural heritage, traditions. It’s not easy to define the most interesting islands to visit during a yacht charter holiday in Greece, but we’ll help you to make the right decision.

Cofru, or Kerkira, is a miniature Italy, which parallels north coast of Greece. Its Venetian charm, white coloured cliffs and green hills, good climate, vibrant blue sea and caves made the island famous throughout the world.

Just “around the corner”, there are Paxi and Antipaxos, two small islands, easy to fall in love with. They attract yachtsmen’s hearts with beautiful caves, safe harbours, painting-like landscapes and quiet atmosphere.

Sailing more south while chartering a yacht you’ll encounter with Lefkada, the only island of the group which is connected to Peloponnese with a highway. Lefkada became a hotspot owing to Aristotle Onassis. Just east of the island, there lies famous Scorpios, which used to belong to the Greek shipping magnate. It is the island, which hosted the wedding of Onassis and Jacqueline Kennedy. Back in the days, these two lands were visited by the most famous people of the epoch.

Sailing closer to Ithaca with your crewed charter yacht, remember, how desperately the world-renowned adventurer and wise king Odysseus, chanted by Homer, dreamt about his homeland. The island is indeed a jewel of the Ionian Sea. You’ll enjoy floral fragrances in the air, gorgeous beaches and a special anodyne atmosphere reigning here.

Zakynthos will become a lovely compliment to your yacht charter itinerary. You’ll enjoy visiting Navagio Beach, one of the most beautiful and photographed in the Mediterranean, and of course swimming with caretta caretta, the endangered loggerhead turtles, in the Bay of Laganas.

Whatever islands you’ll choose for your yacht charter in Greece, you’ll enjoy its charm and superb adventurous magic. East Med Yachting will take care of all the preparation work of your yachting vacation to make it a lifetime experience.
